Gu Li (9 dan) takes the fourth game of the 3rd BC Card Cup final

For anyone who thought game three was violent, this one was off the scale. The fighting started early and continued throughout the game. Both players showed their fighting spirit and it was a joy to watch. With Gu equaling the series, the head to head record between these two is even again at 12-12. The final match will be critical!

Lee was winning for much of the game and many people thought he had won the title. He kept playing all out, while Gu played to complicate the game. Amazingly, Gu found a seized a small opportunity and managed to reverse the situation in the resulting chaos.

Commenting further on the game is a bit beyond me, but Younggil has commented this game at: Commentary: Gu Li vs Lee Sedol – 3rd BC Card Cup Game 4. Let’s wait and see if these two can surpass themselves tomorrow.

  1. Awesome game. I hope An Young Gil will be so kind and comment it for us :)

  2. Yay!

Lee does look every bit the wolf in the photo here doesn’t he. Maybe its the hair…our happy wolf ;) There have been some great photographs captured at this match!

I’ve a question. From what I can tell the match is being played in a room with no audience. Is there an audience somewhere in the match hall were the action is relayed and the games commented? Bet some would give their right arm to be there :D

    • I think they play alone (and some referees and other staff) but with some cameras so all the people comment the game in adjacent rooms

  3. What a game! I think Gu Li is playing better by now but Lee is more experienced

  4. Capture the eight stones in sente is beautiful.
