On 19 April 2011, defending champion, Lee Sedol 9p of Korea advanced to the final of the 3rd BC Card Cup by defeating fellow countryman Park Junghwan 9p.

A day later, Gu Li 9p of China won his semi final against Heo Youngho 8p of Korea to join Lee.

Two former champions face off
Gu was the winner of the 1st BC Card Cup in 2009, so its a showdown between two former BC Card Cup world champions. Go fans have been eagerly anticipating a possible Lee versus Gu final and this exciting spectacle has finally eventuated. Let’s see what kind of magic they can create together!
Interestingly enough, Lee and Gu have a head to head record of 11 wins apiece, so this best of five match will tip the scales.
The matches are scheduled to start on Saturday April 23, Korean time, and will continue until we have a winner. Come back to Go Game Guru for all the action over the next few days.
